Dr. Francis Beckwith is a philosopher who teaches, publishes, and speaks on a variety of topics and issues in ethics, law, politics, and religion. He is currently Professor of Philosophy & Church-State Studies at Baylor University, where he also serves as Affiliate Professor of Political Science, Resident Scholar in the Institute for Studies of Religion (ISR), and Associate Director of the Graduate Program in Philosophy. Prior to arriving at Baylor in 2003, he was a Visiting Research Fellow in the James Madison Program in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. He earned a PhD and MA in philosophy from Fordham University, and a Master of Juridical Studies (M.J.S.) degree from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. He is the author of over 100 academic articles, book chapters, reference entries, and reviews. Among his over twenty books are Defending Life: A Moral and Legal Case Against Abortion Choice and Taking Rites Seriously: Law, Politics, and the Reasonableness of Faith, both published by Cambridge University Press, and most recently, Never Doubt Thomas: The Catholic Aquinas as Evangelical and Protestant, published by Baylor University Press in 2019.
