DAILY WALK
"Holy Bible, book divine! Precious treasure! thou art mine; Mine, to tell me whence I came; Mine, to teach me what I am:"
Good Morning, indeed the book of Jeremiah is all of the above. Jeremiah is speaking from God to man and telling the problems of Israel. Do you ever wonder how the church of today can depart from the Lord and yet not realize it has gone away from His love and plan? God complained that His people had deserted Him for gods that were not Gods. Our reading today is Jeremiah 2 and I Corinthians 5. How often does God compare our connection to Him as a marriage? Israel was God's beloved. His blessings to them were because He loved them. He desired their love and they gave their love to other things. Jesus, betrothed to His Church finds His Bride going after loves and desires as if He is not enough for them. In chapter 5 of I Corinthians it is the sin of fornication that is brought against a man in the church and the people look the other way as this sin is paraded before a heathen world by His supposedly washed bride. The flesh is always the battleground, and the Spirit that communicates with the Holy God is sacrificed on the altar of selfish wantonness. Look at verse 7 and hear God's call to wash before the flesh takes over. Sin was in the camp and Paul cries for measures to be taken before it does more harm. It would seem the church followed Paul's counsel and the sin was corrected.
